Without getting too sentimental, that time of the year has come once again to look back over the year 2009 at what we've all achieved - the laughs, the tears, the drunken 'memories', the goals we set and are proud to say we achieved or disappointedly, well...didn't, the friends we made or lost, the best gig/festival of the year, that one song that makes up one more year on the soundtrack of your life....(anyone else feel like we're in an episode of The O.C. - cue powerful, heart-wrenching music!)
For us, it's been a good year. Despite losing out in a Battle of the Bands competition which would have meant a victory for the 3rd year running (York 2007, Scotland's 'Making It Big' 2008), we have instead played with a number of big names on stages of all shapes and sizes. We have supported The Futureheads, Shed Seven, Bear Hands, Red Light Company and Twisted Wheel. We have shared the stages at Sellindge Festival and Copmanthorpe Carnival with the likes of Supergrass, The Holloways and Elliot Minor. We released our second E.P. 'Spider Season' and ventured down for a mini tour in London on top of our 1st stadium appearance to perform 'Snap Shut' before a Leeds Rhino game at Carnegie Stadium. All-in-all it's been a pretty decent year. And we thank you for your support in all of this.
But now it's time to turn over to 2010 and make those all important New Year's resolutions. What are your resolutions for 2010? What is the new year going to bring?
Hopefully bigger stages, bigger names, bigger crowds...
We have been grateful for the money and time you have granted us turning up to our gigs, travelling around and buying our music, as well as the ear-bashing you have received from our Facebook updates (those of you who STILL haven't actually been to a gig, I think we all know what your new year resolution is!).
So raise your glasses. Here's to a new decade. A new year.
The Year of the Ghosts.
Happy New Year!

HO! HO! HO!
Have we got a special treat for you this Wednesday!
As it is our final gig of the year, 2 days before actual Christmas, we thought we would do something a little different.
As a way of thanking our fans for their continued support through 2009 we are going to play a few old songs, a few songs that have never been played to you before and a few of our more well known songs, except not quite the way we usually play them....!! To get a little taste before Wednesday, you may want to listen to our 'Arachnacoustic' version of Spider Season at our Myspace...
Bring your festive cheer cos it's going to be one fun Christmas party!

So you've ended up here...
There may be various reasons for this happening...
Numero Uno: you were one of the lucky ones that ended up with HG promo in your grubby mit (or in you coat pocket!!) and thought you would check us out, gald you did!
Numero Dos: You've 'googled' "Hungry Ghosts" and ended up here whether it be intentionally or not...again, glad to have you here!
Numero Tres: You know this site already, your probably my Mum and you fancied having a nosey at the drivvle we are churning out these days...so to you...HI MUM!
Anyway, my main reason to post (other than to say a quick hello as its been a while since I've posted on here!) was to let you know that you CAN STILL GET YOUR HANDS ON FREE MUSIC!!
Just send an email to hungryghostsblog@googlemail.com with "free track" in the title and you will almost instantaneously receive the instructions on how to download your free track.
Hope you enjoy it and that we will see you all soon!
Kindest Regards!

"It's Getting Better All The Time..."
...as said by some wise man. Rick I think his name was...
Anyway, we have woken up with smiles on our faces this morning as we reflect upon the great response we received from so many Shed fans; so many music fans. Although it was an earlier gig than usual we still managed to play to some keen supporters (if you were at the barrier and took advantage of the free t-shirts draped over it, please wear yours with pride!).
I managed to get to chat to a number of people as you were leaving while myself and the team handed out our flyers - yes, it's not all glitz and glamour when you have to do your own promotion :) - but on the positive side, I got to find out what you really thought of us (cunning). Could I be anymore overwhelmed? Probably not. We have definitely put Nottingham on our Christmas card list that's for sure.
Remember this name, remember where you saw us first. Hopefully we will meet again....

NEWCASTLE WAS....
pretty amazing, right?! We finally get to our humble abodes at 2:30am, but what's another few minutes of sleep lost in order to thank those who travelled to see us in Newcastle and those who went to see the hosts, but may have appreciated our music a little bit! Let it be known that the Shed's were on top form, but we hope that we've broken through their fans and added to our tally! It was the first time we have played in Newcastle and once we were shouted at by a Shed fan on the front barrier to "play some f***ing music" as soon as we walked on stage, we realised we were in a good place.
Please give us a tinkle on the ol' Myspace or Facebook page. Follow the links below for more Hungry goodness.
Cheers pet :) x

JUST AROUND THE CORNER
It's only a few days now until we are supporting Shed Seven on their Tour which is very exciting. Although it's not for the full tour, these two venues are going to be fresh ground for us so it'll be nice to see some friendly faces when we arrive.
If you spot us around and about please stop for a high 5!
E.P Update: New Year is looking good for the release of the EP 'Talk For England' which is in it's mastering stages and will be our first physical release.
Why not visit iTunes or click the image on the right and download our back catalogue.
New additions to the Myspace (link at the bottom of the page) are also waiting for your ears.
Happy Christmas Shopping!
